Easy finance suggestion to purchase a solar carport
Not everyone has the necessary funding to buy and erect a new solar carport kit. It is a fantastic improvement to your home which will enhance its value. A cost-effective way to purchase and install your new solar carport is by re-drawing on your current mortgage. Typically, a $15,000 re-draw @ 4.8% will only add around $13.85 per week in interest to your weekly outgoings. A 7.4Kw solar carport should generate around 27.3kw per day. You are currently paying around 30c or more per kw in most of Australia, so generating 30c x 27.3= $8.19 per day which is $57.33 per week in your pocket if you are using all the power generated. The feed-in tariff would be less than 30c, normally between 10c-15c per kw. NOTE: ( In Adelaide, which is similar to Sydney, each 1kw should produce around 4kw of power on average each day)
Installation
The fully authorised teams of Clean Energy Council certified installers make your solar dreams a reality. They’ll even handle much of the permitting and paperwork. Your installation cost should be mostly covered by what is commonly known as the “solar rebate”. The STC scheme, explained below, will give you back around $4000+ on a double solar carport -NOTE – these figures are based on the price of an STC in early 2019, it may be slightly higher or lower today.
The current “Rebate” for anyone buying a solar system of up to 100kW is called the STC program. Which stands for Small-scale Technology Certificate. The government says that this should not be called a “solar rebate”. The Clean Energy website says the following:-
“Under the Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme the reduction in the cost of your solar panel is not a rebate. You will not qualify for any Government-based financial recompense at the completion of any process relating to STCs.”
Basically the thousands of dollars you get off your solar carport system price (usually by assigning the rights to its STC certificates to your installer) does not actually come from the government, rather, it is a government program, but it gets other people to buy your certificates. It’s a government run scheme, using other people’s money to provide the subsidy to you, so lets not worry too much about the technicalities – It’s money to you to help pay for most if not all of your new Solar Carport installation!
